Jamaican Juice

Someone had to say it. There is no way. Things don't happen like that for a whole country without it being a little too coincidental.

So first piece of evidence...no one from Jamaica has ever won the 100m. They win the mens by a landslide (we'll get to that) and the women sweep. Suspicious?

Second, the woman who won took second at world championships and that was it. No prior accomplishments in the women's 100.

Third, no country has ever swept the 100 since 1912 (back then only like five countries competed anyways).

Fourth, Bolt jogged the last twenty meters or so and could have posted a much faster time. As it stands he broke the record by 5 hundredths of a second. Since 1990 the most anyone had broken the record by was five hundredths of a second. And they gave it their all. None of this, "oh I'm winning by a full second I better slow it down" type garbage.

Fifth, Bolt has been running the 100 for a year.

So as much as I want to be amazed by Bolts greatness, common sense prevents me from giving any congratulations. This is about as obvious as Bonds blasting homers as he turned 40. In a similar fashion, I can't congratulate China on their women's team medal with the girls fresh out of diapers (although mad props for the men, they were amazing).

I'm not saying Bolt (or rather the country of Jamaica) will get caught, but this is definitely Balco ... on steroids.

I agree 100%. It just doesn't make sense. there are 2 millin people in Jamaica. Roughly the size of Sacramento. Now how does a country that small have the 2 fastest men and the 3 fastest women in the entire world?

100% cheater. Good stats Jay. You don't pull up with 20 meters left in the Olympic final and CRUSH the world record!!!!

Man this backs up my one and only post. . . let everyone Juice! It's the only way to level the playing field. Besides, America has more money and better technology than Jamaica. . if we juiced too, we would definately win. :)

Yeah I agree. Either let everyone juice or I think alternatively you could make it so the only substances you are allowed to take are approved substances. Freeze the blood and in the next five years if you are found guilty you lose the medal.
That would give the USA a silver in the mens 100 and gold and silver and the womens 100 (provided Marion Jones didn't make the race).

no kidding. give me the legs of a 6'5" guy who can move his legs as quickly as a 5'11" guy, mix in some performance enhancers, and i'm running sub-9 second races

*SPOILER ALERT SPOILER ALERT*

So Bolt predictably won the 200m with another world record being the first person since Carl Lewis to win both. Any coincidence Carl Lewis was also found to have used performance enhancing drugs (check wikipedia for a brief bit on it).

"5. Until recently, no national drug testing system: Maybe this is a factor and maybe it's not. If you assume that all Jamaican athletes are clean, then it's not a factor. But the fact is that Jamaican athletes are subjected to less out-of-competition drug testing than, say, U.S. athletes. Just before the Games, Jamaica announced the formation of a domestic drug-testing body, which might soften suspicion."

Or might NOT.

Good find Ben. I didn't know that. To quote Charity .... "guilty."

Yet another piece of evidence to me...
Spearmon (a year younger than Bolt) used to dominate him until recently. His career record against Bolt is 9-5. So what changed in the last year or two. Not like you have a growth spurt at 20...

Check out the Bolt video. At the very end he denies doping, and says our team doesn't have a problem with that . . . pretty much.

It's at the very end, and that quick "pretty much" is telling.

Also, does he imply that "Michael Phillips" isn't an athlete? What an ass.
I can't believe someone even asked him that. Phelps has 7 world records and 8 gold medals--how does that even begin to compare?

Ok, that link didn't work.

Go to yahoo sports, then click the video tab on the far right, and search for Bolt video.

It wasn't doping. It was slavery!
Of Course!!

Good finds. Especially the yahoo article.

The bit about not cheating because they are a religious country is ridiculous. Yeah of all countries, Jamaica must stand alone as being religious.

Then the doctor is so ridiculously biased sounding, I'm pretty sure he could cover up or timely administer things. I don't trust 'em...

I guess it's pessimistic, but I think most successful athletes use "illegal" enhancers. I guess I lost all faith when the Marion Jones scandal came out.

If you accuse Bolt, however, for his crushing the competition being based on drugs, what about Michael Phelps?

This is one reason why I love basketball. You can be as strong as an ox or really fast, but it still won't make a difference unless you have some mad skills.

Adam,
I think there are a number of athletes that do and some are painfully obvious such as Bonds and Bolt. Winning by a large margin isn't the only factor. Going from middle of the pack to fastest in the world in a very short time is very ... suspect. And that coupled with everything else above...makes it obvious to me.

Found this interesting too here. Chinese biased judges had difficulty arguing this...

I think other comparisons to athletes are waranted, but the Michael Phelps one doesn't work. He has been the "annointed one" in swimming for most of his life. He has not come out of no where, and he has volunteered to have extra, extra testing and to have his samples saved for years to come to be tested later. Lance Armstrong after cancer is more realistic of a doping comparison.

Good to know about Phelps.

I don't know enough about the testing, but it seems a lot of them probably don't get caught. It bothers me that I even suspect someone like Armstrong, but you have to wonder.
